





Amethyst (SiO2) is a purple variety of quartz often used as an ornament. The name comes from the Greek a ("not") and methuskein ("to intoxicate"), a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness; the ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.

i appreciate that you like my jewellery (the pendant, sixth pic down), but you should really ask before you use other people's pics in this way. at the very least, you should be linking to the flickr page where they come from (well, mine came from there, i can't talk for the others), but asking would be nice, too.
i'm not all that worried, but the other people whose jewellery pictures you've taken might be concerned.
